Hanging Basket Competition 2024

WINSFORD Town Council is to hold its annual hanging basket competition for the Coronation Cup.

Residents are invited to showcase their handiwork as part of the competition which was revived in 2023 for the first time in over 70 years.

The competition promises to be a celebration of colour and creativity with the winner receiving the trophy first awarded in 1953.

From luxurious floral arrangements to unique hanging designs, all are welcome to enter the competition.

Judges will assess entries based on creativity, overall aesthetic, and horticultural skill, and the top three will be announced at the Over Allotments Open Day to be held on 27^th July 2024.

Entry Deadline – Friday 12th July 2024

TERMS OF ENTRY

1. The competition is open to individuals and organisations (care homes, churches, businesses and schools, etc)
2. Baskets can be any shape, size or material
3. Baskets must be hung from a hook or bracket
4. Baskets must be displayed at a Winsford address
5. Baskets must be the work of/assembled by the entrant
6. Baskets can be planted with flowers and/or foliage
7. Baskets containing ‘fake’ plants will be disqualified
8. Several baskets displayed at the same address can be entered as a group, but only one basket will be judged; the entrant to clearly indicate which basket they wish to be judged
9. The judging criteria will be based on colour, form, variety and health of the plants
10. Entry forms must be received by Winsford Town Council by Friday, 12th July
11. Prizes will be awarded on Saturday 27th July to three winners, and the overall winner will receive the Coronation Cup
12. The competition is organised by Winsford Town Council, is free to enter and the judges’ decision is final
13. Judges will require access to view the hanging basket.
