Winsford Town Council is excited to announce its launch of the third Winsford Decides initiative.
Winsford Decides 2024, empowering residents to have a direct say on local spending decisions.
Winsford Town Mayor Councillor Erine Welch commented “There are many hard-working voluntary groups and organisations in Winsford that do a brilliant job in bringing the community together and for Winsford Town Council to be able to support these worthy causes is tremendous.
The residents of Winsford to be able to select the deserving winners is great for community spirit”.
Councillor Wayne Fletcher added “To have such amazing community groups in our town is one thing, for them to be recognised by the residents of the town is something that can bring us all together. It would be great to have as many people as possible listening to proposals and voting on the night. This is such a tremendous opportunity for everybody involved”.
This innovative approach ensures the community members play a key role in shaping Winsford’s future.
Participatory budgeting is a democratic process that allows community members to directly decide how to spend part of a public budget.
£25,000 has been put aside for community groups to bid for, each group can bid for up to £5,000.
Residents in the community will be able to hear each project on 27th March 2024 at Winsford Academy, 19:00 and vote for their favourite projects. Successful bidders will be announced on the night.
