Hanging Basket Competition

Calling all residents, care homes, churches, businesses, and schools — it’s time to show off your green-fingered talents!

Enter this year’s Hanging Basket Competition and let the town admire your most beautiful creation.

Prizes will be awarded to three winners, with the overall winner receiving the Coronation Cup.

Key Dates

  • Entry deadline: Friday, 26th June 2026 (by 5pm)
  • Prize-giving ceremony: Saturday, 18th July 2026, at the Open Day of Over Allotments Association, Moss Bank, Winsford

Terms of Entry

  • The competition is open to individuals and organisations (e.g. care homes, churches, businesses, schools, etc.).
  • Baskets may be any shape, size, or material.
  • Baskets must be hung from a hook or bracket.
  • All baskets must be displayed at a Winsford address.
  • Baskets must be the work of—or assembled by—the entrant.
  • Baskets can be planted with flowers and/or foliage.
  • Artificial (‘fake’) plants are not allowed and will result in disqualification.
  • Multiple baskets may be displayed at one address and entered as a group; however, only one basket will be judged. Entrants must clearly indicate which basket is to be judged.
  • Judging will be based on colour, form, variety, and the health of the plants.
  • Judges will require access to view the hanging basket.
  • The competition is organised by Winsford Town Council, is free to enter, and the judges’ decision is final.
